I've never been to New York City
And I've never caught a paddleboat down the Mississippi
But if I were gonna go
I'd like to get to go with you
'Cause I'm not going anywhere without you
No, I'm not making any plans unless you're coming too
'Cause I've been waiting for so long
For someone like you to come along
If I'd have had my time again
I still would have waited
We could visit the place where my parents wed
And I could show you the gate that put this scar on my head
'Cause if I were gonna go
This time I'd like to go with you
'Cause I'm not going anywhere without you
No, I'm not making any plans unless you're coming too
'Cause I've been waiting for so long
For someone like you to come along
If I'd have had my time again
I still would have waited
I'm gonna leave it up to you
I'll go wherever you want me to
And if you just want to take your time then that's just fine
With me
If you don't want to see New York City
If you just want to stay here on the couch watching videos with me
I'm happy not to go
As long as I can be here with you
'Cause I've been waiting for so long
For someone like you to come along
If I'd have had my time again
I still would have waited
About NYC - 6/07/02 Dom
I started humming the lyrics and melody whilst walking around the projection room at work one
day. Then spent a few days working on this one until I got the bridge right. I have never really
wanted to travel around the world on my own; I'd only really want to go if I had someone to share
it with. So I suppose the idea behind this tune is that good memories generally come from the people
you share them with, not where you have them
. Of course, I might only be saying that because
I've never been to New York City
