LYRICS - METRO ST.
Words & Music - Matt Robinson
Another day on Metro St.
Another top ten single on repeat.
Another ten story drop from the top to bottom of the cutting edge shop
School girls playing with their hair.
Greek gods in a pack and all prepared.
Guess the world turned 21, it's pretty damn happy with the race it's run
Who lays the paper at your feet?
Who marinates the words you eat?
Did you or the TV choose the product you have in your hands?
Do you talk to your grandparents?
Do you throw their words away?
Coz less people would get burned if they could learn from yesterday.
Another night on Cosmo Rd.
Another borrowed prime time episode.
Another flash of red,
For the men and the women getting out of their head.
A glowing tribute to the stars,
Staring out from behind the bars
Another hero made and gone for price of the box he was standing on.
How many channels can you need?
And how much hunger can you feed?
We're all addicted just some justify the means and ends
I wanna hear the things you've seen.
I wanna see that you have dreamed.
I wanna know the times you never thought you'd stand again.
I believe in things unmeasured.
I believe in days to come.
I don't know why I need to state the things that I believe.
I might need to leave you something.
Or, hope that you'll agree.
Or, just to let you know that what you think still counts with me.
So make something.
No more compilations.
No more invitations that go unread.
Gotta live for something.
Gotta want for passion.
Gotta leave as little as I can unsaid.
Gotta make it matter.
Gotta make a future.
Gotta make it ready for the kids in bed.
Another day on Metro St.
Another top ten single on repeat.
About Metro Street - 03/02 Matthew R
Being an intrigued bystander of all things commercial in the world, I used to have a massive
issue (did I say used to?) with the worlds of fashion and media. So, after a session of going through
the music on offer at Borders, Chapel St, I jumped on the Chapel St tram and started having a good
look around. By the time I got home I felt like I'd polished off three courses of all-plastic Macca's
goodness and been made to watch every episode of every American sitcom ever made. I sat staring
at the keyboard for a few minutes, trying to work out why I was taking it so personally, and that's
how Metro Street came out - a string of consciousness with no set chorus. Once again, it was just
a bunch of words and chords until the boys got to it. Every part of the arrangement gets me off
in a big way.
