MAKE A DIFFERENCE
lyrics & music © Dom Italiano
And so where to go from here
Looking forward to a time when I can fall asleep
And not be wishing you were here
And I guess I can't complain
I mean I could, and I guess I want to
But what difference would that make
And I can taste those times
When we swore we'd stick together
But if you hold too tight, it can only slip away
But if I thought it'd make a difference
I would've left here long ago
But I stood there waiting with a heart hesitating 'bout things I should've known
And if I thought it'd make a difference
I would've told you how I feel
Your head says forget her, but your heart won't let ya
If I thought it'd make
So I just called to say hello
I hate to think that you were hurting
And you could never let me know
Well that's the subtlety in truth
I always just believed you
Never thought to ask for proof
Well I recall those times
I'd watch you sleeping in the morning
You used to hold so tight
Never thought you'd let me go
But if I thought it'd make a difference
I would've never let you in
But I know if you stand there waiting with a heart hesitating
Then nothing can begin
And if I thought it'd make a difference
I would've told you how I feel
Your head says forget her, but your heart won't let ya
If I thought it'd make a difference
So I would ask you why
If I thought it'd make a difference
So I'll just say goodbye
I guess I lose you either way
But if I thought it'd make a difference
I would've let you know this years ago
I'm guilty of avoiding things that I never wanted you to know
And if I thought it'd make a difference
I would've asked you how you feel
My head says forget her, but my heart won't let you go
But if I thought it'd make a difference
I would've never let this get so far
The person that I thought I knew is so different from the one you are
And if I thought it'd make a difference
I would've signed a different deal
My head says forget her, but my heart won't let you go
If I thought it'd make a difference
About 'Make a Difference' - 4/08/02 Dom
This song is about trying to find resolution. When a relationship ends, sometimes you ask a lot
of questions about how things could have been better if you had done things differently. Started
writing this one the day before we recorded the drum tracks for the EP, and worked on it between
takes that day with Robbo. I always envisioned Matt B singing the chorus. When we recorded the
demo track and arranged the vocals, having both Matts' sing different sections gave the song a
great dynamic and made it a thousand times better for my ears. There are lots of lyrics in this
one 'cause all of the choruses are different
sorry boys!
