INCONSISTENCY
Music and lyrics by Matthew Robinson. ©2001.
The perfect thing about you, though it is not clear
Is that somehow you always get lost up here in the clouds
In the open arms of the burial shroud
And the beautiful enigma that caresses your soul
Is you want to be a member, but you won't be told where to go
As you hunt for the way to the City of Gold
But you got a point to prove
You want to move, then step this way
I'm waiting here to play
Oh baby you, you can take all of me
Or you can beg to be set free
I just want your inconsistency
And you keep a-changing your mind
But what I think that you just might find
Is it's coming in time for the day that you're putting away for
On the floor
The full moon's eye on the edge of the horizon
Says I gotta blink, wink, gotta, think, gotta take time
To find the reason for your grand design
And the particular position that I can't take hold
Is you wanna be a lady, but you wanna be sold now
Whatever it is that daddy don't allow
But you gotta make a move
You gotta prove it's worth the try
To float on a river that just ran dry
And you, you can take all of me
Or you can beg to be set free
I just want your inconsistency
And you keep a-changing your mind
But what I think that you just might find
Is it's coming in time for the day that you're putting away for
I, I'm ready for the knife-edge tearing up my back
But hold, hold steady for the inevitable return attack
This, this city better be big enough for the two of us
Cause I'm not going anywhere if you ain't gonna be there
But you gotta make a move
You gotta prove it's worth the try
To race on a river that just ran dry
And you, you can take all of me
Or you can beg to be set free
I just want your inconsistency
And you keep a-changing your mind
But what I think that you just might find
Is it's coming in time for the day that you're putting away for
You, you can take all of me
Or you can beg to be set free
I just want you and I want your
And you keep a-changing your mind
But what I think that you just might find
Is it's coming in time for the day that you're putting away for
On the floor
On the floor
About Inconsistency - 10/01 Matthew R.
OK, so I was in the midst of a potential relationship which was screwing on many levels with
my impoverished brain, and was about to go smash some traffic lights to prove what a big man I
was...but instead, I decided to sit down and write a song - simpler, yet effective. By the time
I got through the first verse and into the chorus, I realised that I actually didn't mind being
played for a first-class knob - the chase was the best part. I had no idea what this song could
be, till we recorded the EP. The boys rocked out and I was muchly pleased.
